Born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Mora turned first to medicine, studying to become a doctor in his homeland and in Mexico; then moving to New York City for his residency. It was after witnessing the tragedy of September 11th that he decided life was too short not to do everything you want, so he made the decision to also begin pursuing his acting dream. While a medical resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Saint Vincent's Hospital, Mora was also a student in the two year program at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. After finishing both, he made the decision to move to Los Angeles and continue with both careers.
Since making the move, Mora has been building a solid resume in the independent film world. Most notably, this actor/creator earned the 'Audience Choice Award' Finalist from both the New Media Film Festival 2011 and Mingle Media TV for his seriocomic web series "Illegal," in which he stars as a young Latino immigrant with high hopes and big dreams for his new life in America. As an actor, Mora has played a variety of characters: drug cartel henchman, gay, homeless, immigrant, and college student, amongst many other roles. Up next, he is set to star in the indie feature film, "Facade"
Mora is proud to launch the production company M&F Entertainment with his long-time friend from Puerto Rico, Enrique Fosse. The company is currently in-development on two feature films: "Becoming Mr. Lee" and "Sapiens," which will partner them with Hollywood heavyweight Executive Producer Mark Lipsky ("Coming to America," "The Nutty Professor," "48hrs"). This new company is also working on a second season of Mora's successful webseries "Illegal."
Today, Mora continues to have his own medical practice in Los Angeles, specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (www.OmarMoraMD.com) and is proud to lend his support and skills giving back to others. Since 2009, he has been the spokesperson and a medical volunteer of Selva In Action, a non-profit organization that works in the Amazon jungle in Peru.
